What Stage to Certify
- Raw shoot archives when the original capture set itself matters.
- Client selects or preview folders before review begins.
- Edited delivery sets before final handoff.
- Commercial or editorial packages before they are circulated beyond the first recipient.
What Files to Use
Most photography projects should not certify dozens or hundreds of files one by one unless there is a special reason.
- Use a clean archive when you need one exact snapshot of a larger set.
- Use a curated export folder when the shared milestone is a review set or final package.
- Keep the certified set consistent with what is actually sent to the client, editor, or publisher.
Delivery and Review Flow
- Name the project and version clearly before certification.
- Describe the milestone, such as first selects, edited round, or final delivery package.
- Create the proof before uploading, emailing, or transferring the files.
- If the set changes materially, create proof for the next important milestone too.
